Job Description & Qualifications:
Strong National Museum of Play is looking for energetic individuals with a passion for guest service to work in our galleries. This position is 17 hours or less per week. Duties include, but are not limited to, interacting with families and young children while wearing a full character costume. Speaking is not permitted while in costume. Candidate must stand for long periods of time while wearing a Berenstain Bear or Clifford the Big Red Dog character costume.
Shifts Available:
Weekdays: Monday-Friday 11:30am-3:30pm or 11:00am-3:00pm
Weekends: Saturday 11:00am-4:30pm; Sunday 12:30am-4:30pm

Guest Relations Hosts will also be cross trained and work in the Museum’s food court.

Strong – National Museum of Play® has immediate openings for hourly-paid K–8 teachers who have NYS certification (or equivalent experience in any content area) and who are familiar with Multiple Intelligences. Must have a positive attitude and be articulate, enthusiastic, and interested in a flexible part-time schedule. Must be able to work well with children in non-traditional delivery settings, and able to work well on a team. Lessons are provided.

Strong National Museum of Play seeks a strong leader, comfortable in informal teaching and learning environments, with experience implementing curriculum based on Multiple Intelligences. The successful candidate must be experienced and committed to teaching three-and four-year-old children and designing curriculum that is based on the interests of the students in the class and not a predetermined syllabus. Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with parents and other teachers are also important to this position. Qualified candidates must be flexible and committed to team work and have superb organizational, written, and verbal skills and the ability to self-start and juggle multiple tasks. Must be skilled using a personal computer.

Job Description & Qualifications:
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, willing to learn, able to juggle several tasks at once, and must possess the ability to project a positive image toward museum guests. Duties include, but are not limited to, planting aesthetically pleasing flower beds; lawn care including trimming, mowing, weeding, and integrated pest management; must be willing and able to operate a weed-eater, lawnmower, and various other gas-powered landscaping equipment. Heavy lifting over 30 lbs. is necessary to the position.
Must adhere to a strict dress code, wear a clean and proper uniform, be punctual and have good attendance, and possess a strong work ethic.

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to the protection, safeguarding, and security of museum assets, employees, and guests. Supervises security staff; analyzes, evaluates, and supervises museum security operations and procedures; prepares annual security budget; conducts internal investigations and prepares reports relating to losses or violations of museum regulations, policies, and procedures; develops, implements, and manages security training; and serves as museum liaison with public law enforcement, fire, and other agencies.
Fluent knowledge of the English language, and the ability to use English as a first language.
Qualifications: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security, or a closely related field; and/or ten years full-time experience performing supervisory responsibilities or highly responsible work relating to tasks assigned to this position.
